Against career drift.

For career design.

Careering is the platform built to fight career drift: a career shaped by everyone else's expectations except your own.

“Most career advice talks to your head. Careering talks to the part of you that feels.”

The problem

Most people don't realise they're drifting.

Career drift is what happens when a career gets shaped by performance reviews, other people's expectations and whatever came next. It looks credible from the outside. It just stopped feeling like yours.

Career design is the alternative. It is intentionality without destruction: not blowing everything up, but being deliberate about the things that matter most. Not a ladder you climb, but a working life you shape.

What sits underneath

People say they need a plan, but it's rarely the plan.

“I need a plan.” “I'm not sure whether to stay or go.” “I want better advice.” That is the surface version. Underneath it, almost everyone we speak to is looking for one of three things.

  1. Permission

To want something different, without needing to justify it.

  2. Reclamation

To take back a career that has been drifting.

  3. Recognition

That your ambition is valid and real, even when it goes unsaid.

What we believe.

No hustle culture

Nobody here will tell you to get up at 5am. Careering is for people who want a career that fits, not one that swallows them.

Curated, not crowd-sourced

Every coach is vetted by Careering. A short list you can trust, not a marketplace of ten thousand.

Built in the open

We share what we're making as we make it, and the method is tested in public before it is sold to anyone.

Honest about money

Good career support costs money. We tell you what things cost, and we pay our coaches fairly.

Lauren Spearman

Lived, not theorised.

Most careers advice tells you what to do. Lauren shows what it feels like when you do it.

Twenty years of her own transitions, from corporate marketing to working for herself, and more than 200 career conversations sit behind Careering. She is still designing her own career in public, with the same tools and practices she built for you: asking the questions, not preaching from the career pulpit.

Sound familiar?

Then you're in the right place. Start with a course you can work through, or a coach you can work with.
